プロフィール
1978年　東京生まれ
2000年に六代目歌川豊国に師事。まもなく六代目が他界したため、独学で浮世絵を学び、個展やグループ展を中心に活動。
UKIYO-E PROJECTとのコラボレーションの他、『STAR WARS』浮世絵「星間大戦絵巻」や『COBRA』浮世絵「宇宙海賊 狐舞邏」を発表。尾上松也自主公演『挑む』、大阪駅前のGRAND FRONT OSAKA３周年キービジュアルや、ドラマ『石川五右衛門』（市川海老蔵主演/ テレビ東京系列）のメインビジュアルを担当するなど活動も盛んに。近年では国立西洋美術館で開催された『北斎とジャポニズム』では葛飾北斎とのコラボレーション、「New Era X Masumi Ishikawa」のプロダクトコラボレーション、『STAR WARS 歌舞伎』メインヴィジュアルなど、現在の活動は多岐に渡っており、新たな浮世絵表現の画家、絵師として各界から注目されている。

版元コメント
題名通り、本作品はメンバー４人の大首を合わせた構図。
着物の柄は赤穂浪士をベースにしています。本来は白い部分を鼠色に雲母（きら）で光沢をだし、KISSらしさを表現しました。鎖帷子の中の色はメンバーそれぞれのイメージカラーにしています。メイクの色合いは、あえて実際より薄くして歌舞伎の隈取りの様に仕上げました。

ディレクターコメント
浮世絵の「浮世」は「今」「現代」という意味があり、各時代に人気のあった美人や歌舞伎役者、観光スポット等が描かれてきた。
UKIYO-E PROJECTは、その浮世絵のスタンスを現代にいかしたいという考えのもと、2014年三井悠加により発足された現代の版元であり、現代のスターや風景を伝統木版画で表現している。
浮世絵職人の新たな需要を創出し、技術を後世に伝承していく新たな展開は、世界中で高く評価され、大英博物館やオーストリア応用美術博物館、マイアミ大学図書館などに所蔵されている。

1978 Born in Tokyo
Ishikawa becomes a disciple of Master Utagawa Toyokuni VI in 2000, but due to his master’s sudden passing, Ishikawa has continued to pursue the Utagawa aesthetics on his own, and actively holds both solo shows and group exhibitions.
Other than works with UKIYO-E PROJECT, Ishikawa has created illustrations for ukiyo-e in collaboration with Star Wars and Cobra; key visuals for GRAND FRONT OSAKA’s 3rd anniversary; poster designs for Onoe Matsuya’s solo show Idomu; key visuals for television series Ishikawa Goemon, to name a few.
Ishikawa’s recent works include a collaboration with KATSUSHIKA Hokusai for the exhibition Hokusai and Japonisme held at the National Museum of Western Art, a collaborative clothing line with New Era, and key visuals for the contemporary kabuki adaptation of Star Wars.

Publisher's Comment
The kimono pattern comes from Ako Roshi (“47 Ronin” ) - a true story from the 18th century of exemplary bushido or the “way of the samurai”, which has since been adapted into a popular kabuki play.
The subtle sparkle in light grey lines of the kimonos was achieved by the infusion of mica into the ink, and was added in respect to KISS’s costume aesthetics.
The colors underneath the chainmail were chosen to reflect each member’s characters, while the lighter color make-up symbolizes kabuki’s kumadori make-up.

The term 'Ukiyo' in Ukiyo-e means 'the present' or 'modern times,' and Ukiyo-e artworks historically depicted popular beauties, kabuki actors, and tourist spots from their respective eras.
The UKIYO-E PROJECT, established in 2014 by Mitsui Yuka, is a contemporary print publisher that seeks to bring the spirit of Ukiyo-e into the modern age, capturing contemporary stars and landscapes through traditional woodblock printing techniques.
This new endeavor, which creates fresh demand for Ukiyo-e artisans and ensures the transmission of their techniques to future generations, has been highly acclaimed worldwide. The works are held in collections such as the British Museum, the Museum of Applied Arts in Austria, and the University of Miami Libraries.
