ディレクターコメント
鞄の中、タオルの座席に座り移動するカメムシ。人間からすると招かれざる客人だが、なんだかこのカメムシは話が通じそうな雰囲気だ。実際に市川の鞄の中に入り込んだカメムシを街路樹に送り届けたエピソードが元になっており、その際市川は街路樹で振り返ったように見えたカメムシと目が合ったように感じたのだという。
人間の周囲の生き物と人間の関係を主なモチーフとして、シルクスクリーンやドローイング作品を制作している市川。ユーモアに富んだ作品は単なる風刺画ではなく、現代に生きる我々人間の矛盾や滑稽さがある種の慈しみを持って描きだされている。人間に翻弄される生き物たちに対して生まれる奇妙な笑いとすこしの罪悪感、そしてそこに確かにある愛情。メディアとして用いられた版画に隠されたメッセージを読み解くのも面白い。

Gallery Commentary
The stinkbug is getting on the bag, sitting on the seat of a soft towel. From a human point of view, he is an uninvited guest, but somehow this stinkbug seems to be able to talk with. The episode in which the stinkbug entered Ichikawa's bag and was driven to a roadside tree is the basis of this work. Ichikawa felt as if they had eye contact when the stinkbug looked back at her on the tree.
Ichikawa Shiori is an artist who creates silkscreen and drawing works using the relationship between humans and the creatures around us as her main motif. Her humorous works are not mere caricatures but rather depict the contradictions and ridiculousness of our modern life with a kind of compassion. The strange laughter, a little bit of guilt, and a particular love for the creatures at the mercy of humans. It is interesting to decipher the messages hidden in the prints used as a medium.
 
About the Delivery
This work will be delivered after February 8, 2023 to be displayed in Ichikawa's solo exhibition "Ethics Under the Stone."
