作家コメント
横たわる犬は、ブランケットを被ったとき、優しい表情をしています。しかし、裏返すとその表情は少し不安げ。その2面は、確かに彼（または彼女）の中にあるというのに、人は時々、他者を一つの側面のみで見ようとします。
 
ディレクターコメント
半透明のフィルムの裏面からは違う図が見えるように、表面に2図を刷った作品。裏面から見える表情は本来は紙の底にあり、外からは見えない部分だ。隠されたその犬の一面は、確かにそこに存在している。
ユーモアに富んだ作品は単なる風刺画ではなく、現代に生きる我々人間の矛盾や滑稽さがある種の慈しみを持って描きだされている。人間に翻弄される生き物たちに対して生まれる奇妙な笑いとすこしの罪悪感、そしてそこに確かにある愛情。メディアとして用いられた版画に隠されたメッセージを読み解くのも面白い。

Artist Comment
A dog lying down has a relaxed expression on its face when he (or she) is covered with a blanket. However, when the sheet is turned over, what appears is a slightly anxious expression.
Sometimes people see others in only one way, even though various sides are certainly in him (or her).
 
Gallery Commentary
This work is printed with two figures on the surface of the translucent film so that a different figure can be seen from the reverse side. The expression visible from the reverse side is initially at the bottom of the paper, the part that cannot be seen from the outside. The hidden emotions are indeed there.
Ichikawa Shiori is an artist who creates silkscreen and drawing works using the relationship between humans and the creatures around us as her main motif. Her humorous works are not mere caricatures but rather depict the contradictions and ridiculousness of our modern life with a kind of compassion. The strange laughter, a little bit of guilt, and a particular love for the creatures at the mercy of humans. It is interesting to decipher the messages hidden in the prints used as a medium.
 
About the Delivery
This work will be delivered after February 8, 2023 to be displayed in Ichikawa's solo exhibition "Ethics Under the Stone."
