作家コメント
東北地方で信仰される家の神「オシラ様」は養蚕の神、農耕の神など様々な側面がある中、災害の予兆をする「お知らせ神」としても知られています。信仰する者に様々な利益をもたらしてくれる一方、信仰を止めたり、信仰の作法を間違えると祟るという話も多く聞きます。また、その信仰の起源や方法についても未だ多く謎が残されています。
だからこそ、私はオシラ様に惹かれてしまいます。数々の側面や説話があり、利益だけではなく災いももたらし、存在は謎に包まれている。オシラ様を見ていると、信仰の本質とはなんなのか、そこに触れられる様な気がして。
 
ディレクターコメント
岩手県は「民話の里」とも呼ばれるほど多くの民間信仰・伝承等の古い言い伝えを残す土地だ。幼少期を岩手県で過ごした古原も、一緒に暮らしていた祖父母から多くの物語を伝え聞いていたという。
古原の作品には、地域の伝承・信仰に加え、自身が体験した出来事の記憶が入り混じっている。何かを見た、という曖昧な記憶を元に紡がれる、もしかしたらあれは、という願いの糸のようなもの。大切な人を亡くした経験から、古原はこの世とあの世の間で、どこかあたたかなそれを捜しているのかもしれない。

Artist Comment
Oshira-sama, the god of the house believed in the Tohoku region, has various aspects such as the god of sericulture and agriculture, and is also known as a "god of notice" that foretells of disasters. While it brings various benefits to those who believe in him, it is often said that if one stops believing in him or makes a mistake in the manner of belief, he will haunt them. Also, the origin of this belief and its methods remain a mystery.
That is why I am attracted to Oshira-sama. There are numerous aspects and stories about him, he brings not only benefits but also disasters, and his existence is shrouded in mystery. When I think about Osira-sama, I feel that my understanding of the nature of the act of faith deepens.
 
Gallery Commentary
Iwate Prefecture, also known as the "Home of Folktales," is a land that retains many folk beliefs and legends. Kohara, who spent the childhood there, also heard many stories passed down from her grandparents.
Kohara’s artworks are a mixture of local folklore and beliefs, as well as memories of events she experienced. The artworks created from vague memories of what she saw, and they are like a thread of wishes for what might have been.
Having experienced the loss of a loved one, Kohara is searching for something warm between this world and the next.
